Panama City, FloridaThe Sombathy Law Firm proudly announces a significant trial victory following the acquittal of Andre Walker on three of four felony charges, including the most serious: Attempted First Degree Murder with a Firearm. The verdict was delivered on July 31st, 2025, by a Calhoun County jury after a four-day trial at the Calhoun County Courthouse in Blountstown, Florida.

Walker was charged in connection with a 2023 shooting in which five bullets were fired into a Blountstown residence, seriously injuring his son. After weighing the evidence, the jury found Mr. Walker Not Guilty of Attempted First Degree Murder, First Degree Arson, and Shooting into a Dwelling. The jury returned a guilty verdict only on a charge of Aggravated Stalking, which did not require a finding that Mr. Walker was the shooter.

“Mr. Walker was facing life in prison if convicted of attempted murder, so we are grateful for this jury’s careful consideration of the facts,” said defense attorney Bob Sombathy. “We presented a strong alibi defense backed by eyewitness testimony and corroborated by cell phone records. The State’s own expert witness ultimately helped strengthen our case.”

The trial was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Bill Wright and presided over by the Honorable Judge Brandon Young. The jury trial lasted four days and included testimony from 15 witnesses, including 3 expert witnesses. It took the jury less than an hour of deliberation before rendering its verdict. “This was an emotional week for my client, his family, and all the witnesses involved,” Sombathy added.
