Steinberg Law Firm Achieves $525,000.00 Settlement for Mount Pleasant Woman Injured at Restaurant

Mount Pleasant, South Carolina – Slip and Fall cases are notoriously difficult to prove but not for Steinberg Law Firm attorneys Annie Andrews and Michael Jordan. They recently closed a $525,000.00 case for a 50-year-old South Carolina woman who slipped on a wet surface.

On September 7, 2020, Steinberg Law Firm’s client was a customer in a South Carolina chain restaurant. Shortly after placing her order, she slipped on a pool of water that had collected on the floor, injuring her neck, back and shoulder.

Slip and fall cases are notoriously difficult to win because the law favors business owners in these situations. At trial, attorneys must prove a hazard existed that the property owner knew about but did not correct. At the same time, attorneys must show the hazard was not “open and obvious” to where the customer should have seen it yet somehow the property owner should have seen it. Insurance companies know these are challenging arguments to make and regularly offer small amounts of money, if any, considering the hurdles at trial.

Not only did Annie Andrews and Michael Jordan secure a $525,000.00 settlement for their client prior to a trial, they did so without even filing a slip and fall lawsuit.

When asked about this settlement, Annie Andrews stated:

“Trying jury cases has taught me you achieve results like this through telling your client’s story in a compelling way. When the insurance company or jury hears about my client, I want them to think ‘that could be my sister, my dad, or my neighbor she is talking about.’ To tell your client’s story in a compelling way, you must authentically know your client, so you understand what they endured.”

Before the slip and fall, Steinberg Law Firm’s client had worked her entire life in the health industry, encouraging others to live their best lives. The incident resulted in prolonged treatment and a spine surgery forcing her to change careers, and forever affecting her life.

The Steinberg Law Firm has been assisting victims of negligence in South Carolina since 1927 including personal injury, workers’ compensation, and car accidents. For more information, please contact the firm at 843-720-2800 or visit our website at https://www.steinberglawfirm.com/.
